white-urgency

March 7, 2025

I’m kind of embarrassed at this point with how much I’ve written already in my life. I’ve always felt that writing was the expression of urgency, and all of my books have always felt very urgent to me, and I keep anticipating that that urgency will eventually go away and it keeps not going away. Even as we speak I’m anticipating that it is going to go away, but I’ve said that a hundred times before.

Thought:

“I think of the ‘I,’ both in life and in writing, as part of the toolkit, not as an actual entity. It’s a device for organizing words and thoughts. I feel that the more times per day I remind myself that ‘I’ is a comfortable fiction, the closer I get to truth and love and freedom.”
