Djéliya

At some point a group of international film producers asked Jay if he would compose the score for Djéliya, mémoire du mandingue, the new film by Burkinabé director Boubacar Sangaré.

At some point after that Jay asked me to contribute flute to his score, and it would seem the recording process was complete.

At some point very soon after that the producers missed their option to ask for changes and we assumed the film had progressed to the mixing stage. We were wrong, of course.

At some point the film was supposed to make it into Cannes, according to the producers. They were wrong, of course.

As a mere performer I’ve mostly been on the outside of this whole episode, so rather than get anyone into further trouble I’ll simply quote Jay:

this is a score to a movie that exists, but i am not sure where it is.
we are all very proud of this score and we all worked very hard on it.
it is time for you to hear it, should you be so inclined.
