Jeremiah XVII drops today, with a lovely feature detailing the recording process over at Idioteq.
“San Francisco-based musician Christian Molenaar has made plenty of difficult, noisy and unpredictable music over the years, but his new album, “Jeremiah XVII“, also goes into some territory I personally love. There’s jazz, soul, gentler passages with an almost chillout feel, touches of classical music, and some lovely country guitar playing. Then the electronics start misbehaving, the fuzz kicks in, or a rhythm turns up that you probably wouldn’t expect from the previous song. It’s a wonderfully eclectic record…”
All of my work is a labor of love but this album foregrounded both the “labor” and “love” aspect. Read on to learn all about the genesis of the album, the songwriting process and the homemade instruments I built to record it.
And finally I just want to give my deepest thanks to everyone who preordered the album and spread the word before its release. You guys are the reason I do these things and my community really showed up for this one. Love yas <3
