Cowboy Ian’s a Major Player

August 24, 2024

The ever-delightful multi-hyphenate Ian Cairncross (musician, writer, videographer and podcaster of Cheap Windows/Emo Survivalist/All My Wishes fame) has recorded an excellent reading of my very short story “Cowboy.”

I have this friend from the noise music scene, Christian Molenaar.… He’s a super interesting dude — speed reads two hundred books per year at his meaningless job; he’s helping edit my autobiography, fictionalize it a bit; and we’re starting a zine together with two other philosophy friends…

More to come on that front!

Thought:

“To see a strange outlandish fowl,
A quaint baboon, an ape, an owl,
A dancing bear, a giant’s bone,
A foolish engine move alone,
A morris-dance, a puppet-play,
Mad Tom to sing a roundelay,
A woman dancing on a rope,
Bull-baiting also at the Hope,
A rhymer’s jest, a juggler’s cheats,
A tumbler showing cunning feats,
Or players acting on the stage—
There goes the bounty of our age:
But unto any pious notion,
There’s little coin and less devotion.”
