Journal entry for April 13th:
Day like any other.
The first day of the rest of my life.
Had Hostess Ho-Hos for breakfast.
Stopped off at Aaron’s and bought the new Dead Can Dance CD.
Got the results from my first AIDS test.

“A lot of people, especially young people, have always felt that intuition to refuse. Most of that impulse has been managed as ‘art movements,’ so you have the surrealists, the modernists, the beats, hippies, punks, slackers, etc. These are in general people who feel like, Jesus, anything is better, even self-destruction is preferable to simply finding my place in such a sterile world.”
